Fontora reveals the fonts behind 143 famous brands, and the free alternatives anyone can use
A free typography guide for creators and small businesses who want a professional look without a licensing bill.
SCRANTON, Pa., Nov. 4, 2026
Socialocca today highlighted Fontora, a free typography guide that explores the fonts behind famous brands and suggests free alternatives that small businesses and creators can use.
Typography does a lot of the work in making a brand look professional. But many big-brand typefaces are custom-made or carry license fees out of reach for a small business. Fontora closes that gap.
"Fonts are one of the easiest ways to look established, and one of the most confusing to get right," said Ryan K. Hertel, founder of Socialocca. "Fontora shows you what the big brands do, then hands you a free way to get close."
What it offers
- A directory of 143 brands and the typography behind them
- Free Google Font alternatives for each
- Preview with your own words before choosing
- A Pairing Lab to combine heading and body fonts, with a copyable embed
- Filters by style and industry, from startups and editorial to luxury and ecommerce
- Saved collections that stay in your own browser
Availability
Fontora is free at fontora.socialocca.io. It launched in late 2025.
