Inkaloo brings back the handmade personal website, with six decades of retro style and no AI

While every website builder raced to add a robot, Inkaloo went the other way.

    SCRANTON, Pa., Nov. 2, 2026

Socialocca today highlighted Inkaloo, a retro website builder with no AI in it, made for people who want a personal corner of the internet that is actually theirs.

As website builders rush to generate pages, words, and images automatically, the web is filling up with sites that all sound the same. Inkaloo goes the other way. Nothing writes copy for you, and every site made with it was made by a person making decisions.

"Everyone else raced to add a robot. We went the other way," said Ryan K. Hertel, founder of Socialocca. "The early web was weird and personal because people made it themselves. Inkaloo is for anyone who misses that, and for anyone who never got to see it."

    Six decades of web style

Inkaloo sites are one page and usually take about ten minutes to make. People pick a look and add their own words and photos:

    • Sunset, 1977
    • Terminal, 1983
    • VHS / Neon, 1986
    • System 7, 1991
    • Geocities, 1996
    • Y2K Chrome, 2000

Every finished site carries a "Made by a human · No AI" badge.

    No lock-in

Anyone can try the builder without an account or a credit card. A free account gives a site its public address, and owners can download their whole site as a single file at any time.

    A long history, rebuilt

Inkaloo's first version launched in 2018 and powered hundreds of client websites. Inkaloo 2.0 relaunched in 2026 and is in beta.

    Availability

Inkaloo is free forever at inkaloo.com. A plan for using your own domain costs $5 a month or $48 a year.
