Pudding gives creators a way to prove their posts are really theirs, as deepfakes make 'it looks real' meaningless

Instead of guessing whether something is fake, Pudding lets people show exactly what they published, and when.

    SCRANTON, Pa., Nov. 2, 2026

Socialocca today highlighted Pudding, a free content-verification service that gives creators, brands, and organizations a permanent way to prove that what they post is really theirs.

Anyone can now fake a post, a statement, or a photo in seconds, so "it looks real" no longer means much. Most tools try to answer "is this fake?", a question that gets harder every time AI improves. Pudding flips it around: a creator registers what they publish, and anyone can check it against a public record of exactly what they put out, and when.

"Deepfake detectors are in an arms race they can't win," said Ryan K. Hertel, founder of Socialocca. "So we stopped asking whether something is fake. Pudding lets you say 'here is exactly what I published,' and anyone can check it. That's a stronger defense than any deepfake detector."

    How it works

    • Verify your channels. Creators link the places they post. GitHub, Substack, YouTube, Mastodon, email, and your own website work today, with X, Instagram, TikTok, and LinkedIn on the way.
    • Register what you publish. Each post or file is fingerprinted in the creator's own browser. Only the fingerprint is sent; the file itself never leaves their device. Registering takes about thirty seconds.
    • Anyone can check it. Every registration becomes a permanent "Proof Record" on a public page. The records are timestamped through OpenTimestamps on the Bitcoin blockchain, so they can be checked with any OpenTimestamps tool, without having to trust Pudding.

Pudding is built for the people impersonation hurts most: creators whose work is reposted without credit, brands copied in fake promotions, newsrooms whose headlines get doctored, and public agencies dealing with fabricated statements.

It also includes a free AI image check that runs entirely in the browser, with nothing uploaded. It reads the Content Credentials, labels, and camera data an image carries.

Pudding is upfront about its limits, and publishes them on its own page: a Proof Record is a strong signal of authenticity, not legal advice, and it doesn't prove authorship, copyright, or that a claim is true.

    Availability

Pudding launched in October 2026 and is in early access at pudding.social. It is free for 30 Proof Records a month, forever. An unlimited Pro plan is coming, with 50% off for registered nonprofits.
