Snapchat
Close-friends energy, Spotlight reach, and a younger audience that talks back.

Snapchat is easy to underestimate if you're not under 30. It reported 493 million daily users in mid-2026[1], and it's where a lot of younger people talk to their closest friends. For creators and brands that speak to a younger audience, it offers something rare: a casual, personal, behind-the-scenes feel, and a real chance to be discovered through Spotlight.
How people find you
- Spotlight is Snapchat's short-video feed for everyone. Snap ranks it using topics (including caption keywords), positive signals like subscribes, shares, favorites and watch time, and negative ones like skips and hides[2].
- Stories on your public profile reach your subscribers, and can be recommended to others.
- A public profile is what puts your name on your Spotlight posts and keeps your saved Stories and Spotlights in one place[6].
What tends to work
Snap's own advice for Spotlight is vertical video with sound, captions, and its Sounds and Lenses[6].
Do
- Casual, real, behind-the-scenes moments
- Vertical video with sound, filmed in the app
- Captions for people watching without sound
- A Story that tells a little story, with an honest cover
- Inviting replies, and actually replying
Skip
- Reposting videos with other apps' watermarks
- Fully AI-generated videos (not recommended on Spotlight)
- Horizontal or photo-only posts for Spotlight
- Misleading Story covers
Earning on Snapchat
Snapchat's Monetization Program pays eligible creators from ads shown between their public Stories and in Spotlight. It's invite-only and the bar is high: it currently requires 50,000 followers, a large amount of monthly view time (including from Spotlight), being 18+, and being a verified Snap Star in an eligible country[5]. For most small creators and businesses, Snapchat is a place to build closeness and reach a younger audience, with income coming from your own offers.
